Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico

Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico provides comfort, care and a home away from home for families with children in medical treatment. Opened in 1982, Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico (RMHC-NM) has had an unchanged, unduplicated mission to provide temporary lodging, comfort and care to families with ill or injured children. The cornerstone program of RMHC-NM is the Ronald McDonald House Lodging Program that serves families of any seriously ill or injured infant or child residing more than 50 miles away who need to receive inpatient or outpatient care from any Albuquerque medical provider for any diagnosis. The Ronald McDonald House provides a warm and nurturing environment by providing 30 comfortable and quiet bedrooms (away from the hospital hustle); wireless computer access through out and a computer library; indoor and outdoor play areas for children; common living areas with toys, TV and movies; kitchen facility full of donated food plus daily home-cooked meals prepared by community and corporate volunteers.

RMHC-NM also provides two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in Albuquerque to provide support inside the hospital. These rooms offer a special place of respite, relaxation and privacy within the walls of the UNM Children’s Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital where parents are just steps away from their child’s bedside.
